A layout for the printer, not NIC
I already had a GST calculator that splits CGST/SGST versus IGST on one amount. People still asked for a page that looks like an invoice: seller, buyer, GSTIN, place of supply, lines, a total in words. This is that page. It is the same paperwork idea as the rent receipt — fill, print, sign if someone still signs. It is not e-invoicing. There is no IRN. If your turnover means you must go through the Invoice Registration Portal, this HTML will not save you.
GSTIN on this form is the same local check character as the PAN / GSTIN validator. Fifteen characters that checksum are not a live taxpayer. I will not wrap the GST portal. Place of supply is a legal test in the IGST Act. Auto mode only compares the two state dropdowns you picked. If the warehouse and the customer disagree with those dropdowns, the split on the sheet is wrong and that is on the dropdowns, not on CGST physics.
Worked example: intra-state 18%
Seller and place of supply both Karnataka. One line: qty 2, unit price 1000, 18%. Taxable ₹2,000, GST ₹360, CGST ₹180, SGST ₹180, total ₹2,360. Amount in words on that total uses Indian grouping and paise — not a hardcoded “Rupees … Only” line.
Worked example: inter-state
Seller Maharashtra, place of supply Delhi, same line. The ₹360 becomes IGST. People blow this when the billing entity and the warehouse share a city and the customer does not. The CGST vs IGST note is the longer version of that warning.
Print / PDF
The print button calls the browser print dialog. Choose save as PDF if you do not have a printer. The header, trust rail, and form hide; the sheet remains. Totals are INR with Indian grouping because this is an India invoice tool. I will not silently print “dollars” on a GSTIN.
Questions
Is this e-invoicing?
No. No IRN, no QR from NIC, no IRP. If you are over the e-invoice threshold, this printout is a draft layout, not the legal e-invoice.
Does GSTIN look up the portal?
No. Same local check-character test as the PAN / GSTIN validator. A pass means the fifteen characters agree with themselves, not that GSTN knows this taxpayer.
CGST+SGST or IGST?
Intra-state (seller state = place of supply) splits the tax half and half. Inter-state posts the same rupees as IGST. Auto uses those two dropdowns; you can override.
Amount in words?
The invoice total prints Indian words (lakh, crore, paise) next to the rupee figure. Empty or zero totals stay blank or read as zero rupees — not a fake cheque line, and not “Rupees … Only”.
Save as PDF?
Print from this tab and pick “Save as PDF” in the browser print dialog. Nothing is posted to us.
Is this a tax invoice under Rule 46?
It has the usual fields. It is still a browser template. Missing HSN, wrong place of supply, or a cancelled GSTIN will not be saved by pretty HTML.
Are buyer details uploaded?
No. Close the tab on a shared machine.
