Exam photo to exact KB

Binary-search JPEG quality until the file sits in the portal’s min–max window. Presets are typical notices — confirm the advertisement.

Drop photos or click to browse

JPEG/PNG/WebP. Stays in this tab.

The portal wants 20–50 KB. The camera wrote 3 MB.

Quality sliders are a guess. This page searches JPEG quality until the file sits inside the min–max window the form printed, then downscales the pixel box if even mushy JPEG is still too fat. SSC, IBPS, UPSC, RRB, JEE/NEET, and GATE presets are the usual published boxes. They are not a live scrape of every CEN. Read the advertisement. If it says 10–20 KB for the signature, that is the other tool — photo + signature combiner — or type custom min/max here.

Worked example: SSC photo 4.1 MB → 20–50 KB

Pick SSC. Drop the JPEG. Compress. You want the card to read “in window,” not “closest.” If it cannot get under 50 KB, the long edge is still huge; the script will shrink the box. A 4000 px selfie at quality 0.1 looks worse than a 276×354 crop at 0.7. Crop first if the background is a wardrobe.

    Worked example: IBPS 200×230

IBPS is a pixel box, not a centimetre rumour. The preset is 200×230 and 20–50 KB. If your face is a stamp in a large frame, cover-fit will zoom. That is intended.

Worked example: JEE signature mixed into this tool

Do not. Signature windows are 4–30 KB and a wide short strip. Use the combiner or set custom 276×118 and 4–30 KB here on a cropped signature scan.

    Questions

    Is the photo uploaded?

No. Canvas encode stays in this tab. JSZip loads from a file host only if you ZIP a batch.

    What does “exact KB” mean?

Binary search on JPEG/WebP quality, then a downscale if quality 0.08 is still over max. Portals want a window (20–50 KB), not a single byte count.

    Will SSC accept this?

If the notice says 20–50 KB JPEG at ~3.5×4.5 cm and the card says “in window,” usually yes. Pixel aspect and a white background still matter. Confirm the live PDF.

    Why is the face cropped?

Cover-fit fills the pixel box. Crop in a photos app first if the portal wants full headroom.

    PNG output?

Most boards want JPEG. PNG rarely hits a 50 KB cap on a camera photo.

    How many files?

As many as RAM allows. ZIP when you are done. Phones choke on 12 MP bursts.
