India financial tools

These exist because every other GST and salary page wanted an email before doing arithmetic. Each tool links its source so you can check a rate or slab yourself. I am not your CA, banker, or UIDAI — this page explains the methodology so you can judge the numbers yourself instead of trusting a badge.

What belongs here

India search intent is concrete: inclusive GST on an invoice, old vs new regime on one CTC, taxable income after deductions, a rent receipt for HRA, whether a PAN string even parses. Each tool below does one of those jobs in the tab. Citations point at CBIC, the Income Tax Department, RBI, or UIDAI-shaped sources when rates matter, and the trust rail on every tool names the exact date the rate was last checked against the primary source.

Methodology — how the calculators actually work

GST: the calculator applies a single rate to a base amount either inclusively (rate embedded in the total, back-solved) or exclusively (rate added on top), matching how the GST Council's post-2.0 slabs (5% merit, 18% standard, 40% peak) are published on CBIC's goods-and-services rate finder. It does not attempt HSN-code lookups — you supply the rate, it does the arithmetic and shows the CGST/SGST vs IGST split.

Salary and income tax: both tools use the FY 2026–27 slab structure (new regime: nil up to ₹4 lakh, then 5/10/15/20/25/30% bands, ₹75,000 standard deduction, Section 87A rebate up to ₹12 lakh taxable) alongside a simplified old-regime comparison with a generic 80C/HRA sketch. Employer PF, professional tax, and gratuity are modelled with common defaults (metro HRA exemption, standard PF ceiling) — your actual payslip will differ based on your city, PF opt-out status, and employer-specific components. The tool's job is to make the regime trade-off visible, not to replace your Form 16.

IFSC and rent receipt: IFSC lookups hit a third-party bank-code directory over the network (disclosed on the tool page) since the RBI does not publish a queryable public API; the eleven-character structure itself (bank code, conventional zero, branch code) is checked locally first. The rent receipt generator does no validation beyond basic formatting — it is a paperwork template, not a legal instrument.

Worked example

Take a ₹12,00,000 annual CTC. Under the new-regime sketch: subtract the ₹75,000 standard deduction to get ₹11,25,000 taxable. Slab tax works out to roughly ₹71,250 before cess, but since taxable income sits under the ₹12 lakh 87A threshold, the rebate zeroes out the liability in the simplified model — cess and any employer-specific add-ons aside. Run the same CTC through the old regime with a realistic 80C (₹1.5 lakh) and HRA claim and the two numbers will usually land within a few thousand rupees of each other at this income level, which is exactly the kind of comparison a spreadsheet hides and this page makes visible in one type-as-you-go pass.

How to read a result

A browser estimate is a conversation starter with payroll or your CA. It is not a notice of demand. Surcharge, ESOP perquisites, arrears, and creative CTC definitions will all disagree with simplified models. If a number looks wrong, use Share feedback with the tool URL and the figure you expected — corrections to the slab data get a dated changelog entry, not a silent edit.
